DOYLESTOWN VETERINARY HOSPITAL WELCOMES DR. ZIMMERMAN

DOYLESTOWN, PA, March 1, 2024— Doylestown Veterinary Hospital & Holistic Pet Care is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Wendy Zimmerman to the hospital team as an associate veterinarian. Dr. Zimmerman brings extensive experience in canine rehabilitation and veterinary acupuncture to the practice, positioning her as another key asset in the growth of holistic pet care services. Her primary focus will be integrative medicine, merging traditional veterinary practices with holistic therapies to enhance overall patient care outcomes.

“The bond between humans and animals is inspirational and was central to pursuing a career in veterinary medicine. I am excited to return to my passions of treating animals and client education, which is equally important,” said Dr. Zimmerman, adding “It’s an amazing feeling when you can give a parent more time with their beloved pet, and give the pet an improved quality of life through holistic modalities for that time together.”

Dr. Zimmerman is a 2002 graduate from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and received her undergraduate degree from Delaware Valley University. In 2006, she earned her certification in veterinary acupuncture from Chi University in Florida. Dr. Zimmerman also trained in canine rehabilitation at the University of Tennessee.

Dr. Zimmerman brings a wealth of experience to the practice, having dedicated part of her career to working with canine rehabilitation and acupuncture patients at Rau Animal Hospital in Glenside since 2008. Before joining Doylestown Veterinary Hospital, she spent eight years as a Technical Services Veterinarian at Zoetis Animal Health. Prior to her role with Zoetis, Dr. Zimmerman successfully operated her own mobile veterinary practice for 13 years.

In addition, she served as an adjunct professor at Manor College, where she taught anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology in the veterinary technician program. Dr. Zimmerman’s passion for client education dates back to the early stages of her career when she worked part-time for Pet Food Direct (later acquired by Chewy.com), producing educational videos as part of their client outreach efforts.

“We have been searching for more than three years for the right person to join our growing team, and when we met Dr. Zimmerman, we knew the search was over. She combines exceptional patient care with an existing expertise in acupuncture and rehabilitation, and she is eager to learn additional holistic modalities,” said Drs. Randy and Laura Weis, owners of Doylestown Veterinary Hospital & Holistic Pet Care.

Dr. Zimmerman is a Bucks County native from Langhorne. She and her husband have three children and a delightful array of family pets. Their family includes three dogs—a rescued Jack Russell terrier, a dog adopted from Puerto Rico, and a French Bulldog. Their other pets include three Guinea pigs, a hamster, and a cherished horse. Dr. Zimmerman loves spending time with her family, especially attending their dance competitions and basketball games. In her leisure time, she enjoys playing the piano, and anticipates more opportunities to ride her horse and go for a run outside.

“I look forward to returning to the type of work and activities that bring me joy. I believe in the healing nature of holistic medicine. Doylestown Veterinary Hospital offers the dedication to holistic services and support to grow my knowledge and experience,” she said.
